Set ClassChat availability hours

If you don't see this

• It needs the ClassChat permission. A director grants it under Manage School → Staff → Permissions.

Availability hours protect teachers' time. Outside the hours, teachers can't send to families and parents see when teachers are available. Directors and above set them.

Before you start

• Finish Open ClassChat first.

Steps

1. Open ClassChat and tap the gear icon at the top.
2. In Chat Availability, under Default Availability, set the Start and End of each time window. Tap Add Time Window for a second window (for example, before and after nap).

3. To give a classroom different hours, open it under Classroom Overrides and add its own windows. Tap Reset to Default to go back to the school hours.
4. Turn on Allow chatting outside availability hours if teachers may send at any time.
5. Tap Save.

Tips

• Windows apply every day; there is no per-weekday setting.
• Assistant directors and above can always chat, whatever the hours.

Troubleshooting

• "End time must be after start time". Fix the window marked in red; Save stays grey until you do.
