When Asilo says "This child may already exist"

If you don't see this

• It needs the My School permission. A director grants it under Manage School → Staff → Permissions.

After you enter the child's name and tap Continue, Asilo quietly checks your school for close matches. You only see a dialog if it finds one.

Steps

1. Read the dialog This child may already exist. Each match shows the child's name with their date of birth and guardian when known.

2. Choose one:
   • Tap a match to stop adding and open that child's existing profile.
   • Not the same child — add anyway to keep going with the new child.
   • The × closes the dialog and also keeps going.

Tips

• Twins and siblings with similar names often match. Check the date of birth before deciding.
• If you created a duplicate lead by mistake, un-enroll it and choose the reason Duplicate child. See Un-enroll a child.
