Build a custom lesson

If you don't see this

• It needs the Create Custom Lessons permission. A director grants it under Manage School → Staff → Permissions.

The lesson builder has one section per part of the lesson. Work top to bottom and save often.

Before you start

• Finish Create a custom lesson first.

Steps

1. Open the lesson from My Projects → Drafts (or continue right after creating it).
2. Cover Photo: tap Add Cover Photo and pick an image. A cover is required before the lesson can be published.
3. Project Title: type the name families and teachers will see.
4. Age Ranges: check the ages. Tap + Add to add more.
5. Learning Objectives: tap a domain tile to pick standards. See Choose learning objectives for a custom lesson.
6. Instructions: fill in Engage, Explore and Reflect. See Write the Engage, Explore and Reflect steps.
7. Summary: describe the lesson in a few sentences.
8. Example Photos: add up to 12 photos or videos of the finished activity.
9. Materials: tap +, search, pick or create a material, enter a Quantity, then tap Add Material.
10. Books: tap +, search in Search Books and tap a book. Add Notes on how it connects.

11. Tap Save as Draft. It shows Saved for a moment.

Tips

• Tap a material or book tile to change it or tap Remove.
• The ⋮ menu has Preview, to see the lesson as teachers will.

Troubleshooting

• Save as Draft is grey. Enter a Project Title.
• "Please wait for file uploads to finish before saving." Wait for photos to finish uploading.
• Videos disappeared. Videos must be 60 seconds or shorter.
